WELCOME TO CAPE MAY

This event is about bringing talented emerging and professional playwrights together with some of the world’s most renowned  artists in an environment of community, creativity and craft.  If you join us, it will be because you have something to offer, and we hope you will find growth and inspiration while you are here.

Each day will begin with our gathering with you and the other writers over breakfast and coffee before starting with a featured Master Playwright each morning.  In the past, we have hosted many Broadway legends including Pulitzer, Tony, Oscar, and Emmy winners. They include Christopher Durang, Terrence McNally, Marsha Norman, Eisa Davis, John Patrick Shanley, David Auburn, Lisa D'Amour, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Donald Margulies, Amy Herzog, Nicky Silver, David Ives, Israel Horovitz, Ken Ludwig, Halley Feiffer, Lee Blessing, Steven Dietz, and William Mastrosimone among others. Our guest experts present differing programs and ideas and may ask you to participate in various writing exercises and discussions throughout the symposium.  We’ll have actors available to read your work and that of our esteemed guests. We will break for lunch and then resume our sessions in the afternoon.

After dinner, evenings and nights will be spent preparing for the next day, writing, and socializing with your fellow playwrights, some of whom may become lifelong friends and collaborators. We have optional reading and feedback sessions nightly at which your fellow artists give valuable feedback to your work in a respectful, supportive, and informal environment.

Again, welcome to Cape May Stage. We hope you join us and will find this experience informative, enlightening and inspirational. We are looking forward to seeing you and your work!

Best regards,
